Bach, Chopin en Schumann
De muziek van Frédéric Chopin behoort tot de meest geliefde pianomuziek uit de Romantiek – en dat is meer dan terecht. Geen componist wist zo’n rijke en verfijnde klank uit de piano te halen als Chopin. Met de klank van een originele Erard-vleugel word je meegenomen naar de bron van zijn tijdloze muziek.
Pianist Edward Janning speelt Twee Nocturnes, opus 32, en de Derde Ballade van Chopin, voorafgegaan door twee Preludes en Fuga’s uit het Wohltemperierte Klavier van Johann Sebastian Bach, een van Chopins grote inspiratiebronnen.
Na de pauze kun je genieten van het wervelende Eerste Pianotrio van Robert Schumann, een hoogtepunt uit het kamermuziekrepertoire. Schumann componeerde dit onstuimige werk in 1847, een periode waarin hij sterke stemmingswisselingen kende en psychisch kwetsbaar was. Het is een intrigerend werk vol grote contrasten, waarin we dicht bij Schumanns belevingswereld komen.

Bach, Chopin and Schumann
Chopin’s music ranks among the most beloved piano works of the Romantic era — and rightly so. No composer was able to draw such a rich and refined sound from the piano as Chopin. With the sound of an original Erard grand piano, you are transported to the source of his timeless music. Pianist Edward Janning performs Two Nocturnes, Op. 32, and Chopin’s Third Ballade, preceded by two Preludes and Fugues from J. S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, one of Chopin’s greatest sources of inspiration. After the intermission, you can enjoy Robert Schumann’s exhilarating First Piano Trio, a highlight of the chamber music repertoire. Schumann composed this passionate work in 1847, during a period in which he experienced strong mood fluctuations and was psychologically vulnerable. It is an intriguing work full of striking contrasts, bringing us close to Schumann’s inner world.

Kerst met het Erard Ensemble
Als voorproef op de feestdagen organiseren wij al vele jaren traditiegetrouw Kerst met het Erard Ensemble! Op het programma staat zoals altijd muziek van Bach en een mix van verrassende werken die wij die avond zelf bekendmaken. Na de pauze kun je genieten van het romantische Pianokwintet van César Franck, een meeslepend en avontuurlijk werk met een gotische sfeer.
